Welcome to the
Coastal Development Planning Center

Established in 1996, we’re an independent non-profit organization that works to build the resilience of coastal communities and institutions to climate change and natural disaster impacts in India.

CDPC at Glance

In India the coastline covers the length of 7516.6 km which includes Indian mainland, Lakshadweep Islands, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. About 35% of Indians live within 100 km of the country’s coastline measuring 7517 km and these coastal zones are endowed with a very wide range of habitats such as coral reefs, mangroves, sea grasses, lagoons and so on. These coastlines are highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and various natural disasters. Keeping in perspective growth of population, increasing vulnerability and economic development along the coast lines of India, CDPC undertake strategic activities each year and report back to policy makers and practitioners for sustainable development and risk reduction.
